# Hushread vs Feedly (2026): Free Plans and Features

> Hushread vs Feedly: 5 vs 100 free sources, story grouping vs Pro+ dedup, AI, newsletters, integrations and 2026 prices, with an OPML switching guide.

*Disclosure: Hushread is our app. We've tried to be fair, and we say where the others are the better choice.*

Feedly is the mature choice: a free plan with 100 feeds, a browser extension, and newsletters, integrations, notes and highlights and team features on its paid plans. Hushread is narrower and cheaper. It groups different outlets' coverage of the same event into one story, ranks Trending by how many publishers are covering something, and costs $14.99 a year with AI quick takes included. If you depend on newsletters, integrations or a big free plan, stay with Feedly. If you mainly read news and are tired of seeing one event ten times, Hushread is the better fit.

## Pricing in detail

Feedly has four tiers. Free covers 100 feeds and 3 folders with sponsored ads. Pro is about $6 to $7 a month billed annually and adds 1,000 feeds, search, notes and highlights, integrations and faster updates. Pro+ is about $8 to $9 a month billed annually in the first year, then about $12 (roughly $100 for the first year and about $145 a year after), and adds 2,500 feeds, Feedly AI, AI Feeds, newsletters, Google News feeds, RSS Builder, Topics, Deduplication and mute filters. Enterprise is priced on request ([Feedly](https://feedly.com/i/pro)). We saw two slightly different sets of figures on Feedly's plans page on the same day, depending on the view, hence the ranges.

Monthly options vary by platform. The iOS app, for example, lists Pro Monthly at $7.99 and Pro+ Monthly at $15.99 ([App Store](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/feedly-smart-news-reader/id396069556)).

Hushread has two plans. Free is up to 5 sources with stories, Trending, AI quick takes, the audio briefing, narration, folders, tags and search included. Pro is $14.99 a year for unlimited sources, push notifications for every feed and sentiment rules (regional pricing may differ).

## Where Feedly wins

**A far bigger free plan.** 100 feeds against Hushread's 5 is not close. If you want to follow dozens of sites for free and don't mind ads and 3 folders, Feedly Free is the better deal.

**Newsletters and RSS tools.** Pro+ brings newsletters into your reader, plus RSS Builder and Google News feeds. Hushread has no newsletter feature at all. One Hacker News commenter said newsletter-to-RSS is the reason they stay with Feedly ([HN](https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=47372807)).

**Integrations and a browser extension.** Pro saves to Evernote and OneNote and shares to LinkedIn, Buffer, IFTTT and Zapier. The Feedly Mini Chrome extension has 4.8 stars from 23,300 ratings, though it was last updated in September 2024. Hushread has no integrations, no public API and no extension.

**Notes, highlights and deeper tooling.** Pro adds notes and highlights; Pro+ adds Feedly AI, AI Feeds, Topics and up to 100 mute filters ([mute filter limits](https://docs.feedly.com/article/246-how-many-mute-filters-can-i-have)). Hushread has bookmarks, tags and full search, but no highlights or annotations and nothing like AI Feeds. Another HN commenter said they rely on many mute filters ([HN](https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=47311246)).

**Teams and enterprise.** Enterprise offers team feeds and boards, Slack and Teams, an API, SSO and SAML, and dedicated intelligence products. Threat intelligence is now Feedly's core business. Hushread has no team features.

**Scale.** Feedly has over 5 million installs on Google Play and 4.6 stars from 26,011 ratings on iOS, and the iOS app was updated in mid-September 2026. Hushread is built by one developer, has no desktop app (the web app works in any browser), and its story grouping is automatic and occasionally splits one event into two stories.

## Where Hushread wins

**Different outlets, one story.** Feedly's Deduplication, a Pro+ skill, collapses articles with more than 85% content overlap into one ([Feedly docs](https://docs.feedly.com/article/218-how-does-deduplication-work)). That catches wire copies. It doesn't join two outlets reporting the same event in their own words. Hushread does both: repeats collapse under the freshest version, and related coverage from different outlets is grouped into one story. "See whole story" opens a day-by-day timeline of every outlet's coverage with a summary, and long stories chain into chapters. You can see live examples on [our stories page](/stories). Both are on every plan, including Free.

**Trending by publisher count.** Hushread measures how many distinct publishers cover a story hour by hour and flags the ones surging, with a Local tab for your country and tabs per section. It's a signal that only works because coverage is grouped first.

**AI that stays out of your feed.** Feedly AI sits on Pro+. One 4-star App Store reviewer in July 2026 wrote: "I hate how it tries to shove AI down my throat." ([App Store](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/feedly-smart-news-reader/id396069556)). A Hacker News commenter made a similar point, that enterprise-style AI insights felt irrelevant to someone reading about cooking and math ([HN](https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=45522425)). In Hushread, your feed keeps the original headlines; a two-sentence quick take appears inside an article when you open it, and it's included free.

**Price for what you get.** Dedup and AI on Feedly means Pro+, roughly $100 for the first year and about $145 a year after. Hushread Pro is $14.99 a year. Search and folders are on Hushread's free plan; on Feedly, search starts at Pro and Free is limited to 3 folders. One iOS reviewer in June 2025 compared paying around $16 a month just to get more than 3 folders with the price of Netflix ([App Store](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/feedly-smart-news-reader/id396069556)).

**More source types on every plan.** Subreddits and YouTube channels work on both apps. Hushread also reads websites without a feed, Facebook pages and topics on every plan, while Feedly puts RSS Builder on Pro+.

**Built for reading news.** Narration of any article, a News section with the day's top global stories and a one-minute audio briefing, push notifications when a source publishes, and keyword rules to mute, mark read or notify. Feedly's homepage is now titled "Feedly Threat Intelligence" and aimed at security teams ([Feedly](https://feedly.com/)). Its CEO told TechCrunch in August 2026 that basic RSS remains a priority, after a week-long web slowdown that paying users called unusable ([TechCrunch](https://techcrunch.com/2026/08/17/feedly-attributes-weeklong-slowdown-to-bug-not-its-ai-pivot/)).

## Switching in 5 minutes

1. **Export your feeds from Feedly.** Feedly's web app can export your subscriptions as an OPML file. If you can't find the option, search Feedly's help docs for "export OPML".
2. **Decide on Free or Pro first.** Free covers up to 5 sources, and an OPML import on Free keeps the first five feeds and skips the rest. So either trim the file to your five favourites or upgrade to Pro ($14.99 a year) before importing.
3. **Import into Hushread.** Open Hushread on iOS, Android or [app.hushread.com](https://app.hushread.com) and use OPML import to load the file.
4. **Check the odd ones.** If a subreddit or YouTube channel didn't come across cleanly, paste its link into Hushread and it handles the feed. For a site without a feed, paste the site's address.
5. **Save what won't move.** Newsletters, notes, highlights and integrations don't transfer, and Hushread has no equivalent for newsletters or highlights. Export anything you want to keep before you cancel. For newsletters, either keep Feedly Pro+ or turn each newsletter into a feed with [Kill the Newsletter](https://kill-the-newsletter.com/) and add that feed to Hushread.

## Verdict by reader type

- **You want many feeds for free and don't mind ads:** Feedly Free.
- **You rely on newsletters, highlights, integrations or the Chrome extension:** stay with Feedly Pro or Pro+.
- **You work in a team or in threat intelligence:** Feedly Enterprise. Hushread isn't built for that.
- **You mostly read news and see the same event from many outlets:** Hushread, where it becomes one story.
- **You want dedup and AI without paying $100 or more a year:** Hushread Pro.
- **You'd rather AI stayed out of the way:** Hushread, where AI is limited to a short quick take inside articles you open.

## FAQ

### Is Feedly free?

Yes. Feedly Free covers up to 100 feeds and 3 folders on web and mobile, with sponsored ads. Search, notes and integrations start at Pro; AI, newsletters and Deduplication need Pro+.

### Does Feedly remove duplicates?

On Pro+, yes. Deduplication collapses articles with more than 85% content overlap, and marking one read marks them all. It doesn't group different outlets' own reporting of the same event, which is what Hushread's stories do.

### Can I move my Feedly feeds to Hushread?

Yes. Export an OPML file from Feedly and import it into Hushread. On the free plan, only 5 sources fit, so larger lists need Pro.

### Is Feedly dead?

No. The iOS app was updated in September 2026, and the CEO told TechCrunch that basic RSS remains a priority because its intelligence customers use the reader too. Its focus has shifted toward threat intelligence, and the Feedly Classic app was retired without notice.

If Feedly's extras are what you use, keep it. If you mostly read news and want each event as one story, at a fraction of Pro+'s price, give Hushread a look. Hushread is free with up to 5 sources on iOS, Android and the web. [Try Hushread](https://hushread.com/#pricing).
