# What is Hushread

> Hushread is an RSS and news reader with no algorithm. You pick the sources; it groups every outlet's coverage of an event into one story.

Hushread Docs, Get started. Canonical: https://hushread.com/docs/introduction

Hushread is a news and RSS reader for iPhone, iPad, Android and the web. You choose the sources, and Hushread brings in everything they publish, newest first. Nothing is ranked, boosted or injected into your feed.

On top of a plain feed, it does three things:

- **Groups the same event into one story.** When several outlets cover one event, their articles are linked together, and big stories get a full timeline of how they unfolded.
- **Folds repeats.** Syndicated copies and rewrites of the same article collapse under one card instead of filling your feed.
- **Shows what's surging.** [Trending](/docs/trending) counts how many different publishers are covering each story right now.

## Start in four steps

1. [Create an account](/docs/create-an-account) in the app or at [app.hushread.com](https://app.hushread.com).
2. Pick a few topics during setup, or skip that and [add your own sources](/docs/add-a-source).
3. Read [your feed](/docs/your-feed). Swipe an article to the left for a quick summary, or open it to read in full.
4. Open [Trending](/docs/trending) to see which stories your sources are piling into.

## What you can follow

RSS and Atom feeds, websites that don't have a feed, [topics](/docs/follow-a-topic), and [subreddits, YouTube channels and public Facebook pages](/docs/reddit-youtube-and-facebook). You can also [import an OPML file](/docs/import-opml) from another reader.

## Plans

The free plan covers up to 5 sources. [Pro](/docs/plans-and-billing) removes the limit.
