# Your feed

> How the Feed screen works: layouts, filtering by feed, folder or tag, the start screen, and how articles get marked as read.

Hushread Docs, Reading. Canonical: https://hushread.com/docs/your-feed

**Feed** shows every article from your sources, newest first. The header shows how many arrived in the last 48 hours, and a **new articles** pill appears when more come in while you're reading. When you've read everything you'll see **All caught up!**; pull down to refresh.

## Layouts

Tap the layout icon in the header to switch between **Card**, **Magazine** and **List**, or set it in **Settings › Reading › Layout**. The layout is saved on each device.

## Show one feed, folder or tag

Open the menu (☰) and tap a feed, folder or tag to filter the feed to it. Tap more to combine them:

- Feeds and folders add up: you see articles from any of them.
- Tags narrow it down: you see articles that have all of them.

The header shows what you're filtering by. Tap **✕** to go back to everything.

## Start screen

To open Hushread on a particular feed, folder or tag, swipe right on it in the menu (or long-press it) and choose **Set as start screen**.

## Marking as read

- Opening an article marks it read. It stays in place until you leave, so you don't lose your spot.
- **Mark scrolled as read** (on by default) marks articles as you scroll past them.
- **Hide read articles** (on by default) leaves read articles out the next time the feed loads.
- To mark a whole feed, folder or tag as read, swipe left on it in the menu and confirm **Mark all as read**.
- [Rules](/docs/rules) can mark matching articles as read the moment they arrive.

Both options live in **Settings › Reading**.

## Repeats

When several articles tell the same story, you see one card with an **Also mentioned in** strip underneath, instead of the same headline over and over. See [Stories and timelines](/docs/stories-and-timelines).
