Canadian Minister of International Trade Maninder Sidhu echoed this optimism, stating on September 22 that talks were "moving along really well" and that both sides were eager to finalize the deal soon, according to Bloomberg.

On the same day, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney confirmed that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was expected to visit Canada in December, with both leaders aiming to sign the trade agreement around the time of the G20 summit, as CBC News reported.

Carney also made it clear that India is a key part of Canada's strategy to diversify trade away from the United States, according to NDTV India. This broader effort comes amid deteriorating Canada-US relations under President Donald Trump.
