How Reddit RSS URLs work
Reddit gives every listing an RSS version. Take the address of a subreddit on www.reddit.com and add .rss: https://www.reddit.com/r/technology/.rss. Everything else is a variation on that.
| You want | Feed URL |
|---|---|
| One subreddit | https://www.reddit.com/r/NAME/.rss |
| Several subreddits | https://www.reddit.com/r/NAME1+NAME2/.rss |
| Newest first | https://www.reddit.com/r/NAME/new/.rss |
| Top of the week | https://www.reddit.com/r/NAME/top/.rss?t=week |
| A user's posts | https://www.reddit.com/user/NAME/.rss |
| A search in a subreddit | https://www.reddit.com/r/NAME/search.rss?q=WORDS&restrict_sr=on&sort=new |
Two things break most older guides: old.reddit.com feeds now redirect to a login page, and the .json endpoints return a 403 error. Stick to www.reddit.com and .rss.
FAQ
Does Reddit still have RSS feeds?
Yes. Every subreddit and user has an RSS feed on www.reddit.com: add .rss to the end of the address, for example https://www.reddit.com/r/technology/.rss. Feeds on old.reddit.com redirect to a login page, and the .json endpoints return a 403 error, so use the www.reddit.com .rss form this tool builds.
How do I follow several subreddits in one feed?
Join their names with a plus sign: https://www.reddit.com/r/technology+science/.rss. Type them into the tool separated by commas or spaces and it joins them for you.
Can I get only new posts, or the top posts of the week?
Yes. Put new/, top/ or rising/ before .rss to change the sort. For top posts add ?t= with hour, day, week, month, year or all, for example https://www.reddit.com/r/technology/top/.rss?t=week.
How many posts does a Reddit RSS feed include?
About 25 by default. Adding limit=100 asks for up to 100 posts per request, which helps your reader catch up after it has been offline.
Can I get an RSS feed of a Reddit search?
Yes. Search inside one subreddit with https://www.reddit.com/r/NAME/search.rss?q=WORDS&restrict_sr=on&sort=new, or across all of Reddit with https://www.reddit.com/search.rss?q=WORDS. Pick "Search" in the tool to build one.
