Screen Rant ↗How it started
Nintendo used a surprise presentation on October 31 to give Pikmin a date of its own. November 1 will now be an annual Pikmin Day, according to Polygon.com.
The announcement arrived with little warning. Screen Rant reported that Nintendo announced the Pikmin Day Direct just ten minutes before it aired.
How it unfolded
The October 31 presentation put the franchise at the centre of a dedicated Nintendo Direct. Nintendo Life reported that Nintendo was officially adopting November 1 as Pikmin Day from this year.
Shigeru Miyamoto shared information about Pikmin 4 for Switch 2 during the short broadcast, according to The Verge. The presentation also revealed a new project titled Hello! Pikmin, Polygon.com reported.
On November 1, Nintendo Life reported that Nintendo had announced a special Treehouse broadcast featuring Pikmin 4 - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Dandori Academy, timed to the celebration.
Also on November 1, Eurogamer reported that Pikmin 4 Nintendo Switch 2 Edition would launch on November 12. It will be bundled with a new mode called Dandori Academy.
Where it stands
November 1 is the first annual Pikmin Day, rather than simply the date of a one-off presentation, according to The Verge. The dedicated Direct and announced Treehouse broadcast give this first celebration two separate showcases.
The Switch 2 edition of Pikmin 4 is still ahead of release. Eurogamer reported on November 1 that its demo would arrive the following day, placing that release on November 2.
What to watch
The next dated steps are the demo on November 2 and the full Switch 2 edition on November 12, according to Eurogamer. Dandori Academy is the new mode confirmed for that edition.
Hello! Pikmin is another project to follow. Polygon.com reported its reveal, but the supplied coverage does not establish a release date or explain what form it will take.
