Push notifications work in the iPhone, iPad and Android apps. The web version doesn’t send them.

What Hushread can send
| Alert | When |
|---|---|
| Source alerts | A source you turned alerts on for publishes something new. New sources start with alerts off; after you add your first source, Hushread asks Want alerts for this source?. |
| Rule alerts | An article matches one of your Notify rules, from any source. |
| Breaking stories | A story your sources cover suddenly surges: 8 or more publishers within about 3 hours. At most one per story, and at most one an hour. |
| Streak reminders | At 8 pm local time, if you have a reading streak of 2 days or more and haven’t opened Hushread that day. |
| Morning reminder | A daily nudge at 8 am, Your morning feed is ready, that opens Trending. |
| Shared folders | Someone shares a folder with you, or accepts one you shared. |
When a batch of new articles arrives from one source, you get one alert for the newest, not one per article.
